I recently presented an AI workshop for the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), and I was surprised by the overwhelmingly positive posture of so many higher education leaders, presidents, and provosts toward artificial intelligence. The energy in the room was palpable. These were not technologists or early adopters; these were institutional leaders recognizing that something fundamental has shifted in the landscape of education.

Yet what emerged most clearly from that conversation was not enthusiasm alone, but confusion. Despite the optimism, there remains tremendous noise and a profound lack of clarity around AI, especially around AI in education. Leaders want to move forward, but they lack a coherent framework. Educators sense the urgency, but they don't have a shared language. Institutions recognize the moment, but they don't yet have a map.

This is why I am thrilled to announce my new book, NEOGOGY: Learning at the Speed of Mind. Born from my doctoral dissertation and refined through fifteen years of leadership in higher education, including founding the first AI University in the United States, this work is an attempt to provide clarity and cast vision on what I believe is not only possible, but necessary, now that AI is rapidly growing in the marketplace.

When I started writing this book in early 2025, some of the concepts seemed ambitious, even to me. Yet less than half a year later, this book already speaks to things happening in classrooms and boardrooms around the world. That is why I can no longer call this book futuristic. Rather, it is meant to provide educators with an opportunity to discuss, a permission to experiment, and a framework to redesign learning in a world that has already changed.

The Question That Haunts Our Classrooms

I'll never forget walking into a faculty member's office to find her staring at her screen, her face a mixture of awe and unease. ChatGPT had just produced a flawless literary analysis in seconds, an essay that once formed the bedrock of her course. She looked at me and asked the question that now echoes in classrooms around the world: “What am I supposed to do now?”

This is not a technical question. It is a moral, philosophical, and profoundly human one. It is the question that drove me to write this book and to offer a comprehensive framework for not just surviving, but thriving in this new era.

Introducing Neogogy: A New Framework for a New Age

Neogogy, from the Greek “neo” (new) and “gogy” (to lead), is my answer to that question. It is a framework for learning in a world where AI is not just a tool, but a partner in cognition. It is built on seven core principles designed to create learning ecosystems that are both technologically enhanced and deeply human: flexibility, integration, collaboration, outcome orientation, affordability, efficiency, and critical partnership.

This is not a theoretical treatise. It is a practical guide forged in the real world, including my experience founding the first AI University in the United States. It provides a path forward that avoids both the blind embrace of technology and the fearful resistance to change.
